Care Guide
Lace rewards a gentle hand. A few small habits will keep your veil looking the way it did the day it arrived.
Washing
- How should I wash my veil?
- Hand wash in cold water with a mild, pH-neutral detergent.
- Never rub or wring the lace. Press it gently instead, and let the water do the work.
- Can I use a washing machine?
- We do not recommend it. The lace is fine enough that a machine cycle will stretch and snag it.
- Hand washing is what keeps the pattern intact.
Drying & Ironing
- Can I put it in the tumble dryer?
- No. Dryer heat distorts lace and it does not come back.
- Lay the veil out flat and let it air dry in the shade.
- Can I iron it?
- Yes. Set the iron to its lowest heat, lay a thin cloth over the lace, and press lightly.
- A little steam helps the creases relax on their own.
Storage
- How should I store my veil?
- Somewhere clean and dry, either folded in its gift box or hung.
- Avoid leaving it in direct sunlight for long stretches.
- What if the lace has creased?
- Low-heat ironing or a light pass of steam will let the creases fall out naturally.
Wearing Tips
- How do I keep the lace from catching?
- Lace this fine will catch on almost anything.
- Take care around rings, bracelets, earrings and hair ornaments when you put the veil on and take it off.
- How do I keep it in place?
- Rest it naturally over your head, then secure it with one or two small hairpins.
- The back is cut to stop just short of the neckline, so once pinned it stays where you put it.
Product Care
- Will the colour fade?
- Prolonged sunlight can lift the colour, particularly on the deeper dyes.
- Store the veil somewhere cool and dark between wearings.
- How long will it last?
- Cared for properly, a Mariel Veil holds its shape and its lace detail for many years.
